4/4/11 - Official date of 'The Return' begins...

It's been quite a few years since I last turned over those cranks. Today @ work they had the weigh-in for the 1st week of a weight loss competition they are doing. I didn't participate because it only lasted for 2 months, if it lasted until fall, then maybe. Anyway, the scale said a whopping 259. That is the heaviest I've ever been in my life.

Tonight I hooked up the bike to the trainer, and put in Suffer-O-Rama with the idea of keeping everything in small chain ring up front and just going as I felt through the sets.

I puked on the first sets of 'Five Killer Minutes'. I did have it in the big ring 53 up front...afterall I wouldn't have the nickname "Hammer" if I at least didn't try.

After that I just stopped. My heart rate was through the roof, and I feel completely exhausted. Tomorrow is another day, as I have no goals for this year but that could always change. I'll eat a little smarter and try it again. Tomorrow I won't go in the big ring. I can't guarantee that I'll even finish tomorrow's session, all I can do is try. If my body says no, then it's no until the next day. It knows what to do, and it will come around.

Just for kicks, I am putting in my starting and ending weights for seasons that I rode the most:

2001 - 230/220
2002 - 235/219
2003 - 230/200 (Fred's Ride)
2004 - 220/195 (Fred's Ride)
2005 - 210/200 (Fred's Ride, I stopped riding that season due to injury 1 week prior to the Mt. Mitchell trip)
2006 - Did not ride
2007 - 220 (Early April) / 181 (September, would have been my Highlander weight)
2008 - Did not ride
2009 - Did not ride
2010 - Did not ride
2011 - 259 (4/11/11)

We will ride again!

After a long hiatus it's time to return. Hammers need to be dropped, roads will need repaving, and my son will get a glimpse of the superman he will become!

I had a long post written about what happened in 2007, then I decided fuck it. It's time to build a bridge and get over it.

Short version: I crashed some bikes, killed a dog, sued some people, and won.

Onward!

2010 Cycling Season comes to a close.

LOL.

2008 & 2009 Seasons comes to a close...

Actually, they never even started. I rode not one mile the entire 2008 and maybe 10 miles around my neighborhood in 2009.

The 2007 season ends....

The 2007 season is over for me, I was in really great shape with my weight down to 181 (14 pounds lighter than 2004, and much much more sustained power). I would have had a good ride at the Highlander but things happened and I'll blog about it later when I'm ready.

2008 is still up in the air. As of yet, no decisions have been made.

Coach Troy Returns!

Wednesday morning was a repeat of Tuesday with rain just sideways and blowing like crazy. I hooked up the trainer and did 45 minutes of suffering with Coach Troy. Those workouts do perfect on mornings when I get off of work, I may change my routine a little to include more of those. I'm also looking at ordering a few more.

My Giant is still ticking and driving me nuts, I've got to get that back into the shop. I don't know what the heck is wrong with it!
